Thatcham Research independently tests and certifies vehicle security products. Thatcham approval is the standard most UK insurers use when assessing a tracker's suitability for insurance purposes.
What's the difference between S5+ and S7?
S5+ includes ADR Driver ID tags so the system can verify that the driver is authorised — typically required for higher-value vehicles. S7 provides 24/7 monitored GPS tracking without Driver ID. Both are Thatcham-approved.
What is an S5+ tracker?
An S5+ is a Thatcham-approved tracker with an added immobiliser feature that can stop thieves driving away with your vehicle, even if they clone your key — combining an S5+ tracker and 24/7 monitored recovery with active immobilisation.
How does Scorpion Track wireless-link technology work?
Scorpion Track uses a combination of GPS for location, GSM for communication, and a wireless-link ADR system (on S5+) for driver verification. The system communicates with a 24/7 secure operating centre at all times.
What is an ADR Driver ID Tag?
An ADR (Automatic Driver Recognition) tag is a small fob carried by authorised drivers. When the vehicle moves without a recognised tag present, the system raises an alert — deterring key-clone and relay theft.
