Scorpion Track

S5+ vs S7 — which tracker do you need?

Both are Thatcham-approved and 24/7 monitored. Here's how to choose.

Scorpion Track produces two Thatcham-approved monitoring tiers: S5+ and S7. Both are backed by a 24/7 secure operating centre that monitors your vehicle and works with police to recover it if stolen. The key difference is Driver ID.

The S5+ system includes ADR Driver ID tags — small fobs carried by authorised drivers. If the vehicle moves without a recognised tag present, the monitoring centre is alerted straight away. This makes S5+ particularly effective against key-clone and relay theft, and is typically required by insurers for prestige and high-value vehicles.

The S7 system provides certified Thatcham GPS tracking and 24/7 monitored recovery without the Driver ID layer — a strong, insurance-friendly standard for everyday vehicles.

FAQs

S5+ and S7 questions, answered

Which tracker does my insurer require?
Most standard vehicle policies accept S7. Higher-value or prestige vehicles often require S5+ with Driver ID. Check your policy wording or ask your insurer — we can advise.
Do both systems work abroad?
Yes — monitored Scorpion Track systems are designed for UK and European coverage.
Is there a monthly subscription cost?
Both systems include a monitoring subscription. We'll explain costs clearly before you commit.
Can I upgrade from S7 to S5+ later?
Yes — contact us and we can discuss an upgrade to the S5+ system and ADR Driver ID tags.
How do ADR Driver ID tags work?
Each authorised driver carries a small tag fob. When the vehicle moves without a recognised tag present, the monitoring centre is alerted immediately.
